Connected Vehicle Technology Development
Heavily invested in and consulted upon across four main service areas: Safety & Security; Information & Navigation; Entertainment & Convenience; and Remote Diagnostics.
UK-based design, coding and in-house manufacture
Our UK based R&D department designs hardware and software in accordance with IATF16949 standards, following an Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) framework. The department comprises engineers engaged in product design and development at PCB level, coding in Embedded C to develop programs embedded at microprocessor level, and specialists in satellite (GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO), GSM, RF and Bluetooth technologies.
All ScorpionTrack and TrakKING web-based portals and mobile applications are developed and maintained by our UK based team of UX designers and developers, with bespoke APIs and design customisation available to meet the needs of our vehicle manufacturer and larger fleet customers.
Prototype manufacture and volume production are performed in-house from our state of the art manufacturing facility, utilising surface mount technology (SMT), through hole technology (THT), automated conformal coating and automatic optical inspection (AOI).

Programmable Microwave Intrusion Detector
A product we were asked to produce, approved by Aston Martin Lagonda & DAF Trucks. Radar sensors use the Doppler shift effect to detect movement, converting the phase shift into an IF output of approximately 31Hz per 1mph of movement.
- An excellent alternative to the use of ultrasonics in cabriolet type vehicles or trucks.
- Used extensively in vehicles where curtains may interfere with ultrasonic sensors.
- For use in vehicles where it is undesirable to have visible ultrasonic heads.
The amplitude of the IF output increases the closer the object is to the radar sensor. The sensitivity can be set to react to the speed and how close the moving object is to the sensor to trigger an alarm system. Thanks to Scorpion bespoke electronic design and manufacture. Using microprocessor technology it is possible to fine tune the way the detection is made and define what a trigger is and what is not.
Fully programmable with a programming tool, certain parameters can be adjusted such as the detection range and the amount of movement required before a trigger is registered. Other parameters such as date and software version can be viewed with the programmer.

Telematics system
ScorpionTrack Fleet's web based system allows you to monitor all of your vehicles in real-time on its live map and dashboards. In addition to vehicle tracking, ScorpionTrack Fleet provides other dynamic real-time information about vehicles, alerts, drivers and geofences, all of which are updated dynamically without the user needing to ever refresh the web page.
The live map screen features a user interface side-bar comprising vehicles, driver alerts and geofences tabs, letting you easily control which filters to apply and which dynamic information displays on the map at any given time.
